Professional Experience:


University of Kentucky String Project Program Teaching Assistant

- Organized and directed an orchestra program for kids from all over Central Kentucky from August 2009 to May 2011

- Taught over 75 young string musicians every week

- Organized school recruiting presentations     

  • Attended to all administration responsibilities such as taking phone calls, answering e-mails, making brochures, etc.
  • Has taught in the UK String Project since September of 2006

Private Violin and Viola Lessons Teacher

- Organizes material and lesson plans for private violin/viola instruction from September 2007 to the present

  • Private violin and viola instruction for students ranging in age from 7-22
  • Prepares students for University auditions and competitions

Lexington Philharmonic Orchestra, Lexington, Kentucky

  • Has played violin in the professional orchestra of Lexington from September 2005 to the present

University of Kentucky Symphony and Opera Orchestra

-Played in the orchestra from August 2005-April 2012 and worked with world renowned artists including Itzahk Perlman, Gil Shaham, and Sarah Chang and performed in Carnegie Hall and the Kennedy Center

Henry Clay High School, Morton Middle School, Squires Elementary Orchestra Programs

-Completed a semester long student teaching internship in the spring of 2012

Central Music Academy

-Worked as a violin instructor in an inner city music school from August 2007-June 2008


Apostles Anglican Church Nursery Worker

-Worked as a care taker for children ages 5 and under from August 2007-May 2012


Education and Achievements:

-Recipient of the McCracken Scholarship Award for Excellence in Music Education in April 2011

- Graduated Magna Cum-Laude from the University of Kentucky with a Music Performance degree in May 2009, Graduated in May 2012 with a degree in Music Education and a minor in Spanish

- Received the Mildred Lewis Scholarship upon entering the University of Kentucky

  • Has played in the University of Kentucky Symphony Orchestra since August 2005 and has served as concertmaster for the UK Opera Orchestra
  • Attended the American String Teacher’s Association national conference in 2008 and in 2011
  • Private Violin Lessons since 1995, 1 year of Private Bass Instruction


Other:

  • Frequent volunteer at the Best Friends Association for Alzheimer’s patients in Lexington, KY
  • Has some fluency in Spanish and basic knowledge of Italian



Professional Goals and Objectives

No matter where I am teaching, I would like to foster a supportive and encouraging musical environment that is effective for students of all playing levels, ages, and cultural backgrounds.  I hope to use music as a tool to bring students together as a musical community and also reach out to the community in which we live.
